Bridging the Gap Between Research and Action: Writing Policy Recommendations

How do we transform research data into actionable guidance that shapes real-world policy? This is the theme of our upcoming workshop, “Writing Policy Recommendations,” hosted by the University of Agder on 23 June 2026. The event is organized by RECODE-MLG, in partnership with the sister projects MICAD and DeCrises.

Translating research results into effective and lasting policy requires more than simply summarizing lengthy reports; it demands a genuine understanding of the challenges and dilemmas faced by public authorities. This interactive workshop combines hands-on exercises with reflective discussions to equip participants with the essential dos and don’ts of drafting clear, evidence-based recommendations that can influence decision-making.

Featured speakers:

  • Matúš Mišík (Associate Professor, Comenius University Bratislava)
  • Jon Halvard Eide (Agder County Municipality, Norway)
  • Rebecca Marconi (Project Manager, ALDA – European Association for Local Democracy)
  • John Erik Fossum (ARENA Centre for European Studies, University of Oslo)
